earth spirit and pudding

The challenge at Less is more this week is for a one-layer card featuring either trees or flowers - I have had the set of stamps by Elusive Images from carvings by Carrie Dennison for some time, and not got around too using them, and they definitely need  a simple treatment.   I may be pushing the boundaries a bit, but my favourite  earth spirit carving is definitely a tree spirit..... It was stamped in versafine and clear embossed, then sponged with distress inks in bundled sage and tumbled glass
Bah humbug 's challenge is to use doilies - I had just bought a pack of these when I read the challenge, couldn't believe my luck! Admittedly, they don't seem to punch the holes out as well as they used to these days, but a doily is a doily even so, and these ones just fitted onto a gold 5x5 card.  The stamp is from Elusive Images, and seemed to fit nicely in the centre. I added a little colour with promarkers, and used dimensional glue to add some texture to the cream topping.

  4. Hi Wendy - thanks for joining us again. It's a real treat visiting your blog and seeing Elusive image stamps being used so well. Love that pudding. It's funny but sometimes you don't realise how great a set of stamps is until you see someone using it successfully.

  6. Hi Veronica - how lucky indeed for you that our theme this week was perfect for your recent purchase. You don't have a spy in Humbug Hall do you lol?
Your christmas pud stamp looks good enough to eat on top of the pretty doily and the curved text around the top looks great. Thank you for sharing with us at Bah! Humbug!

  8. Thanks for joining our One Layer Tree or Flower challenge with this really unusual image.
You have used lovely shades to colour it. Is it a scanned image? It's little difficult to see where the card ends, but I love the simple style!
DO join us next week for our Theme challenge!

  17. Love how these have both worked out Veronica. Carrie's stamp look fab for the Less is More. Love the way you've coloured it.

The Bah Humbug one is great too and a loely way to use the pudding stamp. I know what you mean about today's doilies. I spent ages gently removing all the teeny bits from one I used a little while ago and haven't bothered since.
